Certification Commission for Healthcare Technology

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Technology (CCHIT) is a recognized authority for certifying electronic health record (EHR) products in the United States. It is a voluntary private sector organization created by a joint partnership between the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and The National Alliance for Health Information Technology (Alliance).

CCHIT’s goal is to increase adoption of interoperable health information technology by creating certification processes that help physicians select the best technology and reduce their risk of investment. A CCHIT certified product ensures that the product meets basic requirements for interoperability, functionality and information security.

For more information about the CCHIT, including details about the EHR certification methodology and a list of certified products, please visit the CCHIT Web site.
